Michael Junior Onafowokan is a BFI-future-nominated best director, writer, and creative storyteller whose work sits at the intersection of film, music, and culture. Chicago-born and London-raised, Michael began as as performance art & design-based storyteller, developing a visual language rooted in empathy and crafted to make people feel seen.
His career spans collaborations with global brands including Google, Nike, and Gymshark, as well as Grammy-nominated artists such as Ayra Starr, Rema, and Coldplay. Michael’s multidisciplinary background—across film, television, photography, animation, and stage—shapes a cinematic style known for emotional depth and cultural resonance. His credits range from an on-screen role in Netflix’s Top Boy to serving as Creative Director on Ayra'Starr & Coldplay’s world tour.
Today, Michael directs and writes bold, visually expressive narratives that explore humanity and connection.
Outside his film work, he often takes pictures on film and records with his VHS camera, moments that inspire the stories he tells.
